Welcome to D.I.Grantase

D.I.Grantase is a crowdfunding platform designed to help underrepresented groups in research leverage community support, in the form of microgrant donations, to fund expandable research supplies. By supporting this group of researchers, D.I.Grantase makes research more accessible to the general public and also promotes community engagement with the world of research.

D.I.Grantase caps microgrant fundraising to $12,000 per lab per year, which we feel should be sufficient to fund expendables. However, D.I.Grantase does not guarantee that a Researcher will get any donations on the Platform.

D.I.Grantase implements the policy that microgrants raised on the Platform and transferred to Researchers are not subject to institutional overhead. Researchers must work with affiliated institutions to ensure this condition is met.

D.I.Grantase maintains this website (“Platform”) as a crowdfunding platform for underrepresented researchers (“Researchers”) to launch funding campaigns for their research labs, and for donors (“Donors”) to donate to the research labs they support. Researchers and Donors, collectively called “User/Users” use D.I.Grantase services (“Services”) as provided. The terms “D.I.Grantase”, “us”, “we”, “our” refer to the ownership of the Platform. The term “You” and “Your” refer to the individuals on or using the Platform.

Please review the following terms and conditions carefully. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form a legally binding contract between the User and D.I.Grantase. By accessing and using the Platform, the User agrees to these Terms which apply to all the content of the Platform. If a User does not acknowledge or agree with any part of the following Terms, User must exit the Platform and not use the services therein. By using the Platform You agree to these Terms in Your jurisdiction. D.I.Grantase shall not be held liable for Researchers or Donors actions but reserves the rights to suspend or ban a User at our discretion.

D.I.Grantase reserves the right to modify Terms of the Platform at any time without notification and the modifications will become effective immediately after posting to the Platform, as documented by the Last Updated date. It is Your responsibility to make sure you agree with our Terms before using the Platform. If you do not agree, you must cease to use and exit the platform. Continued used indicates agreement with the modified Terms.

Researcher Registration and Account Use

• Researchers who choose to register for Services on the Platform must acknowledge that they have approval from their affiliated institution to seek Services from the Platform.


• When registering, Researchers must provide valid, accurate and up-to-date information and provide updates following any changes. Users may not misrepresent User identity, affiliated institution or lab website.


• Researchers will be required to create a username and password to create, access and launch their campaign. As the researcher, You are the sole individual responsible for submissions and communication from Your account and must notify the Platform immediately of any unauthorized or suspicious activity on the User’s account.


• Researcher must not submit copyrighted material and must own the rights to and grant D.I.Grantase permission to use all submitted content, and derivatives thereof, across the site and for outreach purposes. Material submitted to the Platform must be legal, truthful, appropriate, and respectful as evaluated at our discretion.


• Researcher must agree to the rights and/or have the authority to use to all content submitted to the Platform; and must acknowledge that the content submitted will be publicly displayed on the Platform and linked to Your name.


• You agree to fulfill your obligation as a researcher and use microgrants from the Platform to fund lab expendables exclusively.


• The Donor is responsible for validating payment information used on the Platform. D.I.Grantase will not be liable for rejected obsolete payment information.


• You acknowledge that D.I.Grantase will not be liable for Your actions with the funds raised on the Platform.


• In the event of a declined payment, D.I.Grantase will notify the donor to update their payment information but does not guarantee that the payment will be completed successfully.


• You acknowledge that we have the right to deny or remove Your registration and terminate Your account without prior notice.


• You agree that if for any reason the Researcher fails to use funding from the Platform, the affiliated university may repurpose funds to another underrepresented researcher conducting closely related research.

Donor Platform Use

• You understand that donations on the Platform are by choice and acknowledge that You will not receive anything in return for donating on D.I.Grantase.


• Donations are processed by a secure third party payment processor outside of the Platform. Payment validation and processing shall be at the discretion of the third party processor.


• You agree that D.I.Grantase simply provides a platform for Researchers and Donors and remains nonliable of the transaction and information between Users.


• The Researcher is responsible for registering valid and up-to-date university-owned banking information for crowdfunding on the Platform. D.I.Grantase will not be liable for obsolete lab information.


• You agree that You will not contact Researchers directly nor will Researchers contact you directly for matters pertaining to or related to the Platform. You acknowledge that D.I.Grantase shall not be held liable for such and any such related interactions. By using the Platform, you hereby release D.I.Grantase from any and all claims and damages.


• D.I.Grantase guides Reseachers to use funding on expendables used for research but remains nonliable for how the Researcher spends the funds.


• In the event of a declined payment, D.I.Grantase will notify the donor to update their payment information


• You acknowledge that D.I.Grantase will not be liable for Your actions with the funds raised on the Platform.


• In the event of a declined payment, D.I.Grantase will notify the donor to update their payment information but does not guarantee that the payment will be completed successfully.


• The platform may house third party links provided by Researchers. We validate the links therein. However, when you access third party links, you do so at your own risk; and you hereby waive any claims or damages against D.I.Grantase from third party sites.

Fees

• Please see the D.I.Grantase Fees page for information on fees. D.I.Grantase reserves the right to change the fee at any time with or without notice and effective when posted on the Platform.


• In the event a Researcher account is suspended for violating Terms, decided at our discretion, fees will be non-refundable with no exceptions.


• Platform microgrants are exclusive of taxes. The Researcher is responsible for the appropriate taxes if applicable.

Content Ownership

• Except for Researcher-submitted content, all content on the Platform is the property of D.I.Grantase or authorized third party providers. The D.I.Grantase Platform, including trademark materials, service marks, patents and all images contained therein, is protected by copyright and intellectual property law.


• Researcher-submitted content must have appropriate copyright for use and re-use across the Platform and by D.I.Grantase. Researcher shall be liable for content submitted and posted on the Platform. D.I.Grantase shall not be liable for damages resulting from Researcher-submitted content.


• None of the content on the Platform may be copied, reproduced, republished, modified, stored or exploited for commercial use in any way or form without prior approval from D.I.Grantase or our third party provider. Approval for use shall be granted at our discretion.


• D.I.Grantase conducts due diligence to verify registered Researchers but does not guarantee the authenticity of content submitted therein and shall not be liable for any damages that arise from User-submitted content.

Privacy

• For information on what, and how, User information is collected and managed by D.I.Grantase, please consult our Privacy Policy.


• By using the Platform, Users agree to use Platform content exclusively for the purposes stated in these Terms.


• Platform microgrants are exclusive of taxes.The Researcher is responsible for the appropriate taxes if applicable.

Additional Terms

• Users may not collect identifying information, such as email addresses, from the Platform.


• User may not alter or modify the Platform and use it solely for the intended purpose.


• User may not attempt to test the vulnerability or breach the security of the Platform or authentication procedures or attempt to reverse-engineer the technology therein.


• User-posted content on the Platform does not reflect the views of D. I. Grantase and therefore shall not guarantee or assume responsibility for the accuracy of any information posted by Users

Termination

• D.I.Grantase, at our sole discretion, may terminate, suspend or terminate use or access to any or all of the Platform with or without notice, or for any reason. Users’ rights and privileges cease immediately upon termination. However, these Terms shall survive termination.

Indemnification

• Users are solely responsible to defend, indemnify and hold harmless D.I.Grantase and its affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, and attorney and legal fees and costs of any kind arising from or relating to: (a) User-submitted content; (b) misuse of a User account; (c) violation of these Terms; or (d) the violation of any third party rights, as defined by D.I.Grantase. D.I.Grantase reserves the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by the User. If D.I.Grantase assumes defense, as needed, User shall cooperate fully with D.I.Grantase in such defense.

Exclusion of Warranty

D.I.GRANTASE PLATFORM, THE CONTENT AND SERVICES THEREIN ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, AND, AS PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ARE DISCLAIMED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF TITLE, MERCHANTABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. USERS USE D. I. GRANTASE SERVICES AT THEIR OWN RISK. D.I.GRANTASE AND ANY AFFILIATES, DIRECT AND INDIRECT, INCLUDING EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, SUBSIDIARIES, THIRD PARTY PROVIDERS, AGENTS, AND LICENSORS DO NOT WARRANT A) THE ACCURACY OR VALIDITY OF USER-SUBMITTED CONTENT AND THIRD PARTY SITES; B) THE SECURITY OF, AND ACCESS TO, THE PLATFORM; C) THIRD PARTY LINKS WILL BE SAFE AND SECURE; D) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR USE OF OUR SERVERS OR OF ANY USER INFORMATION SUCH AS EMAIL ADDRESSES, RESEARCH, COMMUNICATION OR FINANCIAL INFORMATION; E) INTERRUPTION OR DELAYED TRANSMISSION TO THE PLATFORM; F) USE OF THE PLATFORM WILL RESULT IN USER EXPECTED OUTCOME. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT USE OF THE PLATFORM AND RESULTING OUTCOME IS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND THAT YOU WILL BE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE ARISING FROM USE. NO WRITTEN OR SPOKEN COMMUNICATION WILL CREATE ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY MADE IN THESE TERMS OF USE.

Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL D.I.GRANTASE OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY (WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, OR OTHERWISE) FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF REVENUES, USE, MALICIOUS COMPUTER PROGRAMS, DATA, TOTAL DAMAGES NOT EXCEEDING ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO SERVICES ON THE PLATFORM OR THESE TERMS.

SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR THE EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES AND SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIABILITIES MAY NOT APPLY TO USER.

International Use

D.I.Grantase Platform and services are operated from within the United States. At our discretion, Platform services are limited to Researchers in the United States. D.I.Grantase makes no claim that Platform access is guaranteed from outside the United States. Users who access the Platform from outside the United States do so at their own initiative and risk and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
